Points

Points are the scores that a judge gives for a slide/digital image/print. They will be posted here after each competition.

Beginning in the 2007-2008 season, points will be assigned in the range of 5-15, rather than the 6-10 in past years.  This will help to reduce the need for tie-breakers in the competitions.

At the banquet, awards will be given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for the highest actual point totals in that competition year.

Judging

Ribbons are awarded for First, Second, Third place as well as Honorable Mention (HM).

Our club competitions are judged by qualified outside judges who offer constructive evaluation of each picture and assign a point value to each image to determine winners. Listening to the judge’s critique provides valuable insight to the makeup of prize winning photos. It also helps to understand how photos could be improved. Properly approached, competitions can be a great learning experience.
